Strategic planning is the cornerstone of every successful business venture. Strategy is synonymous with military action plan of attack. Strategic planning is an essential process in preparing to carry out an organization’s mission-where your organization expects to be in five, ten, or fifteen years, and how your organization will get there. An effective strategic planning process provides a map or framework to ensure the actualization of an organization’s mission. The strategic planning framework should detail all the steps and decisions around the organization’s resource allocation; and action plan for the implementation of the organization’s mission statement. Strategic planning framework should also include the timing for the execution of the strategic plans, who should be involved, and the organization of the people and resources for effective implementation. Effective strategic planning process begins and ends with the development of an effective mission statement.
